FAQs

  • FloraPro™, by virtue of being a water soluble fertilizer, is concentrated and must be diluted in water. It can be diluted into the irrigation water manually, by employing a “day tank” system, or by using fertilizer injectors or chemical dosing systems.

    Uncategorized
  • FloraPro™ is a blend of high-quality mineral salts, and is made with internal good management practices to achieve excellent quality standards. To maintain excellent quality, store as follows:

    • Store fertilizer in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight
    • Avoid high temperatures or high humidity to prevent fertilizer from liquifying or clumping
    • Product is hygroscopic: substance tends to absorb moisture from the air. Opened bags should be closed tightly and stored in airtight containers to prevent hardening
    Uncategorized
  • While FloraPro™ is a complete nutrition program, supplements can be used for additional benefit. FloraPro™ was designed to be compatible with existing Hawthorne Gardening Company speciality supplements.

  • Purpinator® may be used on all plants on all plants, but will perform best on plants that express purple pigmentation

    Supplements
  • If you are using a hydroponics reservoir system, it’s best to clean the reservoir as frequently as once every 3 to 5 days with a critical cleaning solution and to closely monitor for film developed along the surface. Critically clean reservoir systems are recommended

    Supplements
  • No, Purpinator® was designed to be fed as a root drench with water and is not to be sprayed onto the leaves of the plant

    Supplements
  • Purpinator® can be used all of the way through your flush and will not leave chemical residues when used as directed

    Supplements
  • We recommend using Purpinator® in the vegetative phase to provide a stockpile of available compounds for use in flowering. If you are using Purpinator® for flowering only, start adding Purpinator® at the first signs of flowering site development or when you change light cycles

    Supplements
  • Yes, but it is not necessary. Purpinator® has the same terpene and trichome benefits as Terpinator®, with the added benefit of improving purple coloration in genetically capable strains. Use Purpinator® for purple plants, Terpinator® for everything else

    Supplements
  • No, Terpinator® is not organic

    Supplements
  • No, Terpinator® does not contain these inputs. Triacontanol supplements can be used alongside Terpinator® if they are part of your feed regimen.

    Supplements
  • Terpinator does not contain Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs).

    Supplements
  • Terpinator® will remain stable for two years when sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. We recommend using Terpinator® within one year of opening. Do not store in areas with average temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not freeze.

    Supplements
  • No, Terpinator® is pH neutral.

    Supplements
  • An unopened bottle, properly stored (cool environment, out of sunlight, sealed container), can last for many years.

Once opened, we still recommend storing in a cool, dark place, but encourage growers to use the bottle within 6 months.

    Systems
  • Properly stored (cool environment, out of sunlight, sealed container) the FloraNova series should last up to one year without any problems.

  • Either way will work. If you are using a nutrient for the first time and are not familiar with how it is going to affect your pH, you should mix your nutrient first. Let the solution sit for about 15 – 20 minutes and then check the pH and adjust accordingly. Keep track of how much pH Up or Down you add to the solution. Typically pH Up will be required if you are using Reverse Osmosis filtered water. If you are using unfiltered municipal water or well water with a pH of 7.5 or above, you might need to use a small amount of pH Down or possibly none at all. Once you know how much pH adjusting solution you use in your reservoir, you can add it first of you like. Remember that temperature affects pH so make sure your water temperature is consistent when mixing your nutrient solution.

  • Our Feedchart Usage Guide explains how to interpret and use General Hydroponics® Pro Feedcharts. It is intended as a companion piece to General Hydroponics® Pro feedcharts for FloraPro®, FloraSeries®, and Maxi Series™.

    Basics
  • Each set of feed charts illustrates Aggressive, Medium, and Light Feeding recipes.  (For most modern production systems, we recommend the Medium Feed strength).

Aggressive Feed: Best for larger, multi-topped plants, where planting density is low and crops are irrigated less frequently.  Plant density 0.25-4 per 16 sq ft

Medium Feed: Suitable for most modern production systems. Best for medium-sized plants and medium planting density, where crops are irrigated frequently. Plant density 4 -10 per 16 sq ft

Light Feed: Best for smaller plants, grown in high-density layouts and using pulse feed or very high frequency, low-volume irrigation events.  Plant density 11- 20 per 16 sq ft

    Basics
  • Each feedchart download includes two versions — Weekly & Growth Phase — and you can choose either version based on your needs.

Weekly Feedchart: The weekly version divides each fertilizer recipe by week from the Seedling/Cuttings stage through Harvest.

Growth Phase Feedchart: The Growth Stage versions include fewer recipes geared toward key growth stages, and are intended for large-scale commercial operators who require simplified fertilizer recipe counts for complex fertigation systems.

    Basics
  • 3-Part Feedchart: Our 3-Part programs use only the base nutrients in FloraSeries®: FloraGro®, FloraBloom®, and FloraMicro®. This program is perfect for growers who want to keep it simple, whether they are a large commercial grower trying to simplify their operation, or a first time hobbyist just trying to get their bearings.

6-Part Feedchart: The 6-Part feedcharts include six total products: the three base nutrients in FloraSeries®, plus three additional liquid fertilizers supplements: CaliMAGic™, Liquid Koolbloom®, Floralicious® Plus.

    • CALiMAGic™ is a concentrated blend of readily available calcium and magnesium, assists fast growing plants by preventing secondary nutrient deficiencies.
    • Liquid Koolbloom® is formulated to provide a boost to the nutrients necessary for maximum floral yields.
    • Floralicious® Plus contains essential plant nutrients that are known to encourage essential oil production and improve plant vigor.

10-Part Feedchart: Our custom performance plan includes ten total products: the six products in the Pro Performance charts, plus four additional supplements — used individually or together — to fine tune your recipe to address any remaining challenges with your plants and their growing environment.

    • ArmorSi™ adds Silica to strengthen and help protect plants from stressful conditions.
    • Rapidstart™ is a proprietary blend of plant nutrients to promote superior root growth and development.
    • Ripen® contains essential plant nutrients needed for flower maturation to support abundant flowering, with greater oil and fragrance production,
    • FloraKleen® helps flush out accumulated salts from the rootzone.
