Base Nutrient

General Hydroponics FloraMicro® Calcium & Chelated Micronutrient Base

FloraMicro® is the foundation of the FloraSeries®—your core source of Nitrogen, Calcium, and chelated micronutrients/trace elements used throughout the entire cycle. Adding Micro first to fresh water sets a stable base for the rest of the mix, helping maintain availability as you scale FloraGro for veg, or FloraBloom for reproductive growth.

FloraMicro® provides the calcium and micronutrient base that helps complete the FloraSeries® program. It supports overall plant health, nutrient availability, and balanced growth across the full crop cycle.

Always add FloraMicro® to fresh water first, then add FloraGro® and/or FloraBloom®. Never mix undiluted concentrates together. Follow the appropriate GH feed chart for rates.

FloraSeries® depends on all three parts working together. FloraMicro® anchors the system by supplying calcium and trace elements that help keep the plant’s nutrient program complete and available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is FloraMicro® the foundation of FloraSeries®, and what nutrients does it deliver?

FloraMicro® (5-0-1) is used throughout both vegetative and flowering stages. It provides nitrogen, potassium, calcium, and a chelated micronutrient package that includes boron, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, and zinc. Chelation helps keep trace elements available across a practical pH range.

How does FloraGro® work in tandem with FloraMicro® during the vegetative cycle?

They combine to establish a highly customized foliar and structural feeding profile. FloraMicro® delivers foundational nitrogen, calcium, and trace micros, while FloraGro® back fills with stage-specific phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium to optimize structural cellular development.

What is FloraMicro® and what is its specific N-P-K formulation?

FloraMicro® is formulated with a guaranteed N-P-K analysis of 5-0-1. It serves as the mandatory foundation of the FloraSeries® building-block system, delivering essential nitrogen, potassium, and calcium alongside a comprehensive chelated micronutrient and trace element package throughout both the vegetative and flowering cycles.

Why is FloraMicro® considered the critical first step when mixing the FloraSeries®?

Adding FloraMicro® to fresh water first sets a stable base and prevents concentrated reactions that trigger immediate nutrient lockout or fallout. You must always mix FloraMicro® into your reservoir and stir thoroughly before adding FloraGro® or FloraBloom® in sequence— never combine these base concentrates in their undiluted forms.

What chelated trace minerals are included in FloraMicro®, and why is chelation so important in hydroponic environments?

FloraMicro® supplies vital trace elements including boron, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, and zinc. These trace elements are delivered in fully chelated forms to ensure they remain soluble and bioavailable to plants across wider working pH ranges, protecting your crop against micronutrient deficiencies and lockouts under real-world conditions.

How do I determine if my water source requires standard FloraMicro® or the Hardwater variant?

Cultivators should utilize FloraMicro® Hardwater if their tap water source exceeds 200 ppm (or contains more than 70 ppm of Calcium). If your water's Calcium level sits in the moderate 30 to 50 ppm range, standard and Hardwater Micro can be blended together to achieve the ideal elemental balance.

Can FloraMicro® be used by itself as a standalone vegetative or bloom feed?

No, FloraMicro® is a base nutrient that must always be paired with FloraGro® and FloraBloom®. It is not a standalone fertilizer; each part of the three-part FloraSeries set is essential to form a complete, balanced plant-food regimen, and they must be used together per your stage-specific feed chart.

What are the best reservoir parameters (pH, EC, and temperature) when running FloraMicro®?

For optimal mineral uptake and stability, keep the reservoir solution temperature below 75 °F (24 °C), maintain constant aeration, and adjust pH to a target range of 5.5 to 6.5. Top off the reservoir with fresh water between cleanings, and execute a complete nutrient solution change every 7 to 10 days.

What are the storage, shelf life, and warranty specifications for FloraMicro®?

Keep the bottle tightly sealed and stored upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Unopened FloraMicro® remains stable for approximately 2 years, and opened bottles should be used within a single growing season. It is backed by a 1-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase ensuring conformity to label specifications.
